This Privacy Policy explains how Plif (the "App"), operated by Datacog ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Plif you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, and — if you use Sign in with Apple or Google — the identifier and basic profile those services share with us.
- Learning profile. The preferences you give during onboarding (for example your field, role, experience level, and how you like to learn), used to personalize lessons.
- Learning activity. Topics you create, lessons you view, quiz answers, and progress signals such as "got it" — used to tailor and improve what we show you.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active Plif Pro subscription. Payments are processed by Apple; we do not receive or store your card details.
- Technical & diagnostic data. Standard information needed to run the App reliably and securely (such as device type and crash/diagnostic data).
- Topics you enter. The text of any topic you ask Plif to teach is sent to our AI provider to generate a lesson (see Section 4). Please do not include sensitive personal information in topic text.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and personalize the App and your learning feed.
- To generate lessons from the topics you request.
- To manage your account and your subscription status.
- To improve our content and recommendations.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
3. How your information is stored and secured
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (primarily in the United States). Information is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and access to your video media is granted only through short-lived, signed links. We restrict internal access to your data to what is needed to operate the service.
4. Service providers
We use trusted third parties to operate Plif. They process data only to provide their services to us:
- Google (Firebase & Google Cloud, including Vertex AI). Authentication, database, hosting, and AI lesson generation. The topic text you enter is processed by Google's AI to create your lesson.
- Apple. Sign in with Apple and App Store subscription billing.
- Voice synthesis providers. Used server-side to narrate generated lessons. Your account information is not shared with them.
5. Permissions
If you choose to save or share a lesson video, the App requests permission to add media to your photo library. This is used only to save the file you export — Plif does not read or browse your existing photos.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the App; this permanently removes your account and associated content. You may also contact us to request deletion.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under GDPR or the CCPA). To exercise these rights, email us at support@plif.app.
8. Children
Plif is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
